Anche allo shop dell’Hard Rock Cafe di Venezia saranno rese disponibili le t-shirt a serie limitata firmate da Jon Bon Jovi, il rocker internazionale che ha aderito alla filosofia di charity dell’Hard Rock International. Frutto della collaborazione, la serie limitata di magliette Hard Rock, firmate dal cantante Bon Jovi – entrato nella storia del rock con la melodica Always – saranno vendute anche allo shop del Cafe Veneziano e il ricavato devoluto a The Philadelphia Soul Charitable Foundation, l’organizzazione non-profit americana dedita ad attività sociali di sostegno a persone povere e disagiate.

Jon Bon Jovi è il più recente tra gli artisti che si sono dedicati al progetto di realizzazione magliette Hard Rock Cafe firmate, un’idea che ha già fatto raccogliere milioni di dollari dando sostegno a svariate cause sociali nel mondo.

Oltre 50 artisti di fama mondiale e 30 etichette discografiche hanno unito le forze per Make Some Noise, la campagna lanciata da Amnesty International per porre fine alle violazioni dei diritti umani nella regione sudanese del Darfur.

Il doppio cd include oltre 20 brani firmati da John Lennon e interpretati, tra gli altri, da U2, Green Day, R.E.M., Avril Lavigne, Big & Rich, Christina Aguilera, Snow Patrol e Corinne Bailey Rae. Sarà distribuito da Warner Italia in tutti i negozi di dischi e, a partire dal 25 giugno, nelle edicole in allegato al settimanale “Sorrisi e Canzoni TV”.

Ulteriori brani di altri artisti, come i Duran Duran, i Deftones e Willie Nelson, saranno disponibili per il download digitale.

Nel rispetto della lunga tradizione di attivismo rafforzato dal potere della musica, Amnesty International userà il catalogo solista di John Lennon, generosamente offerto da Yoko Ono, come fulcro della campagna in difesa dei diritti umani della popolazione del Darfur. La mobilitazione ha lo scopo di riportare la pace nel paese ed evitare che donne, uomini e bambini innocenti continuino a morire a migliaia.

Il doppio cd verrà pubblicato il 22 giugno e vedrà la partecipazione di 28 tra i migliori artisti al mondo, che daranno una loro personale interpretazione dei brani composti da John Lennon nella sua lunga carriera da solista. La lista degli artisti - che arrivano dal mondo rock, pop, hip-hop e country – include: gli U2, attivisti già da molto tempo (“Instant Karma”), i Green Day (“Working class hero”), i R.E.M. (“#9 dream”) e Jackson Browne (“Oh, my love”); alcune tra le donne più famose della musica pop: Christina Aguilera (“Mother”), Avril Lavigne (“Imagine”) e Corinne Bailey Rae (“I’m losing you”); le star country Big & Rich (“Nobody told me”); dall’area del rock alternativo troviamo i Flaming Lips (“Just like starting over”), i Postal Service (“Grow old with me”) e Regina Spektor (“Real love”); le megastar del rock: gli Aerosmith (“Give peace a chance”), Lenny Kravitz (“Cold turkey”); e infine i cantautori impegnati Jakob Dylan con Dhani Harrison (“Gimme some truth”) e Ben Harper (“Beautiful boy”).

I diritti delle canzoni di John Lennon sono stati generosamente donati da Yoko Ono, che ha offerto tutte le royalties delle edizioni. Parte dei ricavi della vendita del doppio cd e della versione digitale dei brani sarà destinato alla campagna di Amnesty International per salvare il Darfur e alle iniziative dell’organizzazione in altre zone nel mondo in cui sono in corso violazioni dei diritti umani.

“È meraviglioso che, attraverso questa campagna, una musica tanto familiare alla mia generazione possa essere conosciuta da tanti giovani” ha affermato Yoko Ono. “La musica di John è uno strumento fantastico per ispirare e aiutare i diritti umani, affinché si possa veramente fare del mondo un posto migliore”.

“Sappiamo che la musica ha il potere di unire e ispirare molte persone” – ha dichiarato Paolo Pobbiati, presidente della Sezione Italiana di Amnesty International. “Con centinaia di migliaia di morti, milioni di senza-tetto e la violenza sulle donne usata come tattica nel conflitto del Darfur, il mondo ha bisogno di una mobilitazione di massa per chiedere pace e giustizia. La campagna Make Some Noise combina il desiderio di John Lennon di fare del mondo un posto migliore con l’esperienza di Amnesty International nell’ottenere giustizia. Make Some Noise permetterà alla gente comune di dare una mano a salvare molte vite, un’idea di cui John Lennon sarebbe stato orgoglioso”.

“John Lennon non era solo uno dei Beatles, era la coscienza sociale della sua generazione” – ha aggiunto Jeff Ayeroff, uno dei produttori esecutivi dell’album. “Reinterpretando la sua musica e presentandola a una nuova generazione, accendiamo una luce nell’oscurità che è il Darfur. Il fatto che Yoko Ono abbia regalato la musica di John ad Amnesty International, il cui lavoro è quello di evidenziare il dolore e l’ingiustizia nel mondo, è un vero faro nella notte. Dare un’opportunità alla pace è tutto ciò che vogliamo”.

Country trio The Dixie Chicks (www.dixiechicks.com) have made a triumphant comeback by dominating the major honours at the Grammy Awards. The group's five prizes come four years after they caused uproar among many US country music fans for saying they were "ashamed" of President George Bush. Their awards included best song, record and album. The Red Hot Chili Peppers won four, while Mary J Blige won three. The ceremony was opened by reformed pop group The Police - but it was a bad night for other Brits like James Blunt. The UK singer was up for five awards but went home empty-handed. Other British nominees like Corinne Bailey Rae, KT Tunstall and the Arctic Moneys also lost out. The Dixie Chicks' victory in the top three categories represents vindication for a group who were banned from many US radio stations and received death threats after making their controversial comments. At a concert in London on the eve of the Iraq war in 2003, singer Natalie Maines told the crowd she was "ashamed" that Mr Bush came from her home state, Texas. At the Grammy ceremony on Sunday, their single Not Ready to Make Nice - including lyrics like "I'm not ready to back down, I'm still mad as hell" - was named song of the year and record of the year. It also picked up best country performance by a duo or group. Their haul was completed by best album as well as best country album for Taking The Long Way. "That's interesting," Maines said on accepting one award. "Well, to quote the great Simpsons: 'Heh-heh.'" Bandmate Emily Robison added: "We wouldn't have done this album without everything we went through, so we have no regrets."

The Grammy Awards are the most prestigious honours in the global music calendar, with 108 categories ranging from pop to jazz to gospel to polka.
